Adult patient with sickle cell disease (HbSS genotype)

Exclusion Criteria

Blood transfusion in the preceding three months.
Painful vaso-occlusive crisis/acute chest syndrome/stroke or other acute complications in the preceding 2 weeks.
Current use of hydroxyurea.
