Inclusion Criteria

Volunteers with Rheumatoid Arthritis; both genders, aged 35 to 65 years; minimum period of 6 months from the last periodontal treatment; no use of antimicrobials in the period of 3 months prior to the study.

Exclusion Criteria

Volunteers diagnosed with other rheumatological diseases; diabetics; pregnant women; volunteers with disabling psychological or physical conditions.

Improvement in the periodontal condition, verified by full-mputj manual periodontal probing, from the finding of reduction of probing depth by at least 2mm, of gain of clinical attachment by at least 2mm, of reduction of the plaque index of at least 10 %
