Adults, older than 50 years
able to walk independently
NYHA class not higher III
Excluded from this study are unstable patients with acute medical conditions, NYHA Class IV, the need for a left ventricular assist device, uncontrolled arrhythmias, COPD III – IV, previous intracerebral hemorrhage and arterial hypertension (systolic blood pressure [BP]. 180 mm Hg and/or or diastolic blood pressure. 100 mm Hg), as well as serious comorbidities such as cancer. Patients are also excluded if they are suffering from severe dementia (Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) test less than 12 points) or if the test persons cannot walk without the support of the staff.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method After the last IHHT or placebo IHHT application, the tests are repeated from the beginning. This corresponds to the day before the patient is officially discharged after three weeks in rehabilitation.<br>- Hypoxia tolerance test <br>- cardiac echocardiography<br>- Blood sample for analysis of biomarkers (conclusion of cardiac activity)<br>- 6 MWT<br>- Demmi<br>- Time Up & Go<br>- MMSE<br>- DemTec<br>- Short physical performance battery test<br>- Moca test<br>The chief doctor performs the echocardiography.
