Inclusion Criteria

1.Irreversible pulpitis of mandibular first molar teeth

2.vital teeth with no previous history of root canal treatment

3.teeth which will not have any periapical pathology.

Exclusion Criteria

1.Known hypersensitivity to piroxicam.

2.Pregnancy or lactation.

3.Patients who have asthma or allergy to other anti-inflammatory drugs.

4.History of peptic ulcer.

5.Patients who are of less than 14 years.

6.Patients who have bleeding problems or are under anticoagulant therapy.

7.Patients with renal or liver disorders.

8.Patients with history of known or suspected drug abuse.

9.Patients who will take NSAIDs or antidepressants or sedatives within 24 hours before root canal treatment.
