Inclusion Criteria

ASA physical status 1&2.

Parturients with singleton pregnancy aged 21-35 years,at gestational maturity of 37-41 weeks with cephalic presentation and spontaneous onset of labour.

Active phase of labour with cervical dilatation of 4cms and 50% effacement.

On admission Non Stress Test--Reactive.

No identifiable medical or obstetric complication present.

No clinical evidence of cephalopelvic disproportion

Exclusion Criteria

High risk cases like antepartum haemorrhage,preeclampsia,diabetes complicating pregnancy,polyhydramnious,oligohydramnious,cephalopelvic disproportion,malpresentation and prelabour rupture of membranes.
