1)Postmenstrual age between 28 weeks and 44 weeks.
2)Having either proven (culture-positive) or probable sepsis (positive septic screen).
3)The neonates have encephalopathy as a part of sepsis syndrome.
Neonates with lethal congenital malformations.
Moribund neonate who is likely to die in next 6 hours, as perceived by treating team.
Neonates having unhealthy skin precluding the placement of sensors.
New born with severe birth asphyxia defined as 1-minute APGAR Score ⩽3 and/or with clinically defined moderate to severe encephalopathy as a result of antenatal/intrapartum or postnatal asphyxia.
Neonates having congenital hydrocephalus, intracranial malformations, neuronal migration disorders, bilirubin encephalopathy.
Suspected or proven Inborn errors of metabolism
Consent refused by the parents of the neonates
