1. Study participants with similar
a. socioeconomic status (based on modified Kuppuswamyâ??s socio-economic status scale)
b. oral hygiene methods
2. Subjects willing to participate in the study and with written informed consent.
3. Study participants having fair plaque score and moderate gingivitis assessed by Plaque Index [Loe H (1967)]53 and Gingival Index [Loe H and Silness J (1963)]54 respectively.
4. No loss of attachment
5. At least 20 natural teeth present
6. Ability and willingness of study participants to follow the study procedures and successfully complete the study.
1. Overhanging restorations
2. Antibiotic therapy in last 3 months prior to commencement of the study.
3. Using any dentifrice / mouthwash having anti-inflammatory action.
4. Probing depth 3 mm
5. Presence of calculus
6. Presence of grossly decayed teeth
7. Study participants with any systemic disorders that require the use of medications with side effects known to affect oral health.
8. History of allergy to any component of medicament or oral care products.
9. Advanced periodontal disease (purulent exudates, tooth mobility, and/or extensive alveolar bone loss)
10. Study participants who are physically or mentally handicap.
11. Pregnant and lactating females.
12. Study participants using prosthodontic appliances, crowns or restorations on facial and lingual surfaces of teeth.
13. Habit of consuming any kind of tobacco product.
