Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Study participants with similar
  • a. socioeconomic status (based on modified Kuppuswamyâ??s socio\-economic status scale)
  • b. oral hygiene methods
  • 2\. Subjects willing to participate in the study and with written informed consent.
  • 3\. Study participants having fair plaque score and moderate gingivitis assessed by Plaque Index \[Loe H (1967\)]53 and Gingival Index \[Loe H and Silness J (1963\)]54 respectively.
  • 4\. No loss of attachment
  • 5\. At least 20 natural teeth present
  • 6\. Ability and willingness of study participants to follow the study procedures and successfully complete the study.

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Overhanging restorations
  • 2\. Antibiotic therapy in last 3 months prior to commencement of the study.
  • 3\. Using any dentifrice / mouthwash having anti\-inflammatory action.
  • 4\. Probing depth 3 mm
  • 5\. Presence of calculus
  • 6\. Presence of grossly decayed teeth
  • 7\. Study participants with any systemic disorders that require the use of medications with side effects known to affect oral health.
  • 8\. History of allergy to any component of medicament or oral care products.
  • 9\. Advanced periodontal disease (purulent exudates, tooth mobility, and/or extensive alveolar bone loss)
  • 10\. Study participants who are physically or mentally handicap.
