Brief Summary

Parents of children diagnosed with cancer are exposed to high psychological stress. A yoga program (4 weeks, 3 times a week, supervised and self-administered training) offered by the German Sport University Cologne at the Children's Hospital Amsterdamer Straße Cologne aims to provide support to those affected. Based on 6 interviews, it was found that the yoga training helped to reduce emotional burdens and improve well-being in the short term. However, the demanding (clinic) daily routine posed a significant challenge in planning and implementing the yoga sessions. Individualized training concepts are needed to anchor yoga programs for parents of children and adolescents with cancer in the healthcare structure.

Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
Feasibility of the yoga intervention is primarily assessed by applying a self-developped questionnaire assessing satisfaction and perceived effects od the intervention. This questionnaire has already been successfully applied in recent pediatric oncology studies (parent version) and is supplemented by questions on potential prerequisites and obstacles for yoga participation as well as by questions on special requests for parental exercise intervention in pediatric oncology. Due to the special situation of parents of children who are diagnosed with cancer, assessing feasibility is necessary to allow the transfer of scientific data into daily clinical care.
