Inclusion Criteria
All obese patients above 18 years and with a BMI = 30 kg/m2 undergoing hernia surgery
Exclusion Criteria
1. known history of allergy or anaphylaxis to cefotaxime or other betalactam antibiotics either proven or suspected
2.Pregnancy
3.preoperative therapy with antibiotics
4.Refusing to consent to the study
5.Serum creatinine level greater than 1.3 mg/dl
