AIM AND OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY**:**

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of high intensity interval resistance training(HIIRT) over conventional resistance training on body composition ,agility and muscle strength , performance in collegiate female sprinters.

Background

Previous research has shown that an acute bout of HIIRT can increase resting energy expenditure (REE) and decrease respiratory ratio (RR), suggesting its potential for weight loss and enhanced fatty acid oxidation. However, long-term effects on body composition, lipid profile, and muscle strength are less clear. demonstrated that both HIIRT and CRT enhanced muscle strength, but only HIIRT significantly improved endurance strength performance and lean body mass. This study seeks to build on these findings by examining the effects of these training modalities over a longer duration and with a larger sample size.

Methodology

Study Design

A randomized parallel trial will be conducted over 8 weeks, involving 130  female sprinters aged 20-25 years. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the HIIRT group or the CRT group.

Participants

  • Inclusion Criteria:

  • Females aged 20-25 years

  • No current participation in structured resistance training programs

  • Free from chronic diseases or injuries affecting exercise performance

  • Exclusion Criteria:

  • Use of medications affecting metabolism or muscle function

  • Any orthopaedic limitations preventing participation in resistance training

Intervention Protocols

  • HIIRT Protocol:

  • Three sets of 6 repetitions at 10 repetition maximum (RM)

  • 20 seconds of rest between repetitions until exhaustion

  • 3 cycles with 2 minutes of rest between sets

  • CRT Protocol:

  • Three sets of 15 repetitions

  • 75 seconds of rest between sets

Measurements

  • Body Composition:

Skin fold Measurements

  • Agility:

Agility T -Test

  • Muscle Strength:

One-repetition maximum (10RM) tests for major muscle groups.

·       Performance:   Questionnaire  for assessing the performance.

RESULT :

Result will be revealed at the end of the study**.**
