Inclusion Criteria

existing surgical indication for elective colorectal laparoscopic, conventional or robotic assisted resection // indication provided by a specialist in General Surgery, CBF Outpatient Clinic // Patient is cognitively and physically able to carry out a self-contained exercise program on a regular basis // male and female patients, minimum age 18 years

Exclusion Criteria

COPD // severe heart failure, worse than NYHA II // limited resilience due to painful joints that could complicate the exercise // insufficient compliance // boundary conditions which do not allow participation in the study in the form provided or which do not allow for correct participation by protocol // insufficient understanding of the German language, spoken a/o written

Primary Outcome Measures

Increase in the distance traveled between post-op day two and five. Assuming that both groups start with a walking distance of 20m on the 2nd postoperative day and that this distance is increased on the 5th postoperative day to 80m in the control group without preoperative strengthening exercises and to 120m in the intervention group.
