1. Children admitted in the PICU and requiring airway stabilization and mechanical ventilation.
2. Duration of intubation more than 24 hours and not exceeding 14 days.
1). Vocal cord anomalies and other anatomic abnormalities of the upper airways beforeintubation
2). Previous use of corticosteroids during hospitalization within the past 7 days.
3). Clinical contraindication for the use of corticosteroids.
4).Surgical trauma to the upper airway.
5).A history of previous upper airway obstruction
( subglottic stenosis)
6). Patients with pseudobulbarpalsy
7). Spontaneous extubation
