Inclusion Criteria
Subjects aged 18 or older; carrying Metabolic Syndrome criteria according to the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III criteria (NCEP ATPIII 2001); who consented formally to join the study
Exclusion Criteria
Those who had diagnostic for thyroid abnormalities; hepatic ou renal failure; under treatment for corticoids; hipolipemiant drugs or low calorie diet on the last three months

Name Time Method Higher (20%) remission of Metabolic Syndrome for the intervention group, which was the group that received low calorie diet plus oat bran trough estimative of prevalence index of metabolic syndrome before and after the intervention period;There was a 37% remission of metabolic syndrome for intervention group and 35,2 for control groups
