Inclusion Criteria
Necessity of intensive care therapy (emergencies or elective operated patients with postoperative ICU monitoring)
Age> 18 years
Minimum stay in the intensive care unit of at least 24 hours
sufficient knowledge of German (understanding and language)
Agreement to participate in the study
Exclusion Criteria
Age > 18 years
less than 2 consecutive readings of esterase activity
missing declaration of consent (verbally and or in writing)
