Inclusion Criteria

  • All patients had primary osteoarthritis or avascular femoral head necrosis requiring THA. None had previous surgeries of the affected hip. All patients underwent primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) using a cement\-less, short\-stem design implant and a cement\-less press\-fit cup for osteoarthritis of avascular necrosis at our institution and had a minimum follow\-up of 2 years.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Exclusion criteria were also arthroplasties in other joints in the lower limbs (total or unicompartmental knee, ankle), rheumatoid diseases, osteoporosis, malignant tumors, neurological diseases, bilateral THA or patients unable to participate in the study due to impaired health. Furthermore, we excluded patients who were not willing to participate in the study.
