Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Age 18 years and above
  • 2\. Consecutive patients with thyroid nodules \<4cm
  • 3\. Clinically and biochemically euthyroid

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\. History of intake of levothyroxine/metformin
  • 2\. Any ultrasound or FNA evidence of thyroid malignancy
  • 3\. Nodules causing compressive symptoms
  • 4\. Coalescent thyroid nodules (not suitable for size analysis)
  • 5\. HbA1c \>7\.5%
  • 6\. History of significant neurological or psychiatric illness which may influence thyroid function
  • 7\. Iodinated contrast exposure within past 6months
  • 8\. History of neck irradiation or neck surgery
  • 9\. Use of any medication that would affect thyroid functions
  • 10\. Pregnancy or lactation
