*Mutrakrichchra* is a disease of mootravaha strotas the term *Mutrakrichchra* comprise of two words-Mutra and Krichra.The term Mutram is derived from the root Muta+Ghanzhprtayaya which means Mutra prasravane i.e ooze.The term Krichchra is derivedfrom the root Krish-Kaste means causing trouble or painful.The disease in whichurine is passed with difficulty is called *Mutrakrichchra*.Considering it can be inferred that *Mutrakrichchra*is a condition of urogenital system with dysuria as prime symptom whichincludes UTI.[[i]](file:///C:/Users/parul/Desktop/synopsis-%20UTI%20final.docx#_edn1)
Urinary tract infections is an infection thataffects parts of urinary tract when it affects the lower urinary tract.UTI arecaused by bacterium Escheichia coli,[[ii]](file:///C:/Users/parul/Desktop/synopsis-%20UTI%20final.docx#_edn2)cause80% of acute infections in patients withouts urologic abnormalities or calculiOther gram negative rods,especially proteys and Kleibseella and occasionallyEnterobacter,account for a smaller proportion of uncomplicated infections somelifestyle disorders like poor personal hygiene, having a urinary catheter,bowelincontinence,kidney stone,some forms of contraception’s .UTI is the most commonbacterial infections managed in general medical practice and account for 2-5%of consultations ,upto 50%of women have a UTI at some time .The prevalance ofUTI in women is about 3% at the age of20 ,increasing by about 1% in each subsequent decade.[[iii]](file:///C:/Users/parul/Desktop/synopsis-%20UTI%20final.docx#_edn3)
Cystitis and urethritis thetwo forms of lower urinary tract infections (LUTI) are nearly 10 times morecommon in males than females, mainly in reproductive age. Bacterial presenceplaces the entire urinary system at risk of invasion. Dysuria is one among theimportant symptoms of lower UTI by which the patients, daily activities arehampred. Patient with cystitis and urethritis may be asymptomatic or presentwith frequency,urgency,supra pubic pain and dysuria .[[iv]](file:///C:/Users/parul/Desktop/synopsis-%20UTI%20final.docx#_edn4)
These conditions of lowerUTI has similar symptoms of mootrakrichra like muhurmootra pravrutti,sadaaha mootrapravrutti,sarujamootrapravrutti. In Ayurveda there are so many formulations mentioned for themootrakrichra, even though number of researches have been carried out stillthere is need of an effective and safe formulation for this disease. The method of management ofUTI are mainly by antibiotics. Even though they are useful they involveconsiderable amount of risk and are also expensive at the same time theinfective organism develops resistance to antibiotics.So there is need of safepalatable, cost effective medicine.
The trikantakadya guggulafrom yogaratnakara contains *gokshurguggul, haritaki*, *bhibitaki,* *amalki , nagarmotha*.Each and everyingredient is having mootra krichra property. - Patients diagnosed with mutrakrichchra (lower UTI) based on signs symptoms.
- Positive urine microscopy (pus cells>10/hpf) in centrifuged mid-stream urine.
UTI with secondary systemic disease like renal failure, Uncontrolled systemic disease like Diabetes Mellitus Hypertension & any anatomical abnormalities Evidence of renal calculus.

Name Time Method Effect on number of pus cells and RBC per HPF. At base line and at the end of 14 days
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Effect on symptoms of Mutrakrichcha - Burning micturition(Sadaha mutra pravritti) and Dysuria(Saruja mutra pravritti) At base line and after each 7 days till the end of 14 days
