Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •1 ASA Class 1 and 2
  • •2 Posted for elective surgery under general anaesthesia.
  • •3 MORE THAN 65 YEARS OF AGE
  • •4 SURGERY OF MORE THAN 2 HOURS DURATIO

Exclusion Criteria

  • •1 PATIENTS WITH SICK SINUS SYNDROME
  • •2 2nd AND 3rd DEGREE ATRIOVENTRICULAR BLOCK
  • •3 DISEASE OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
  • •4 HISTORY OF HEAD INJURY AND NEUROSURGERY
  • •5 PREEXISTING DEMENTIA OR NEUROLOGICAL DISORDER
  • •6 HISTORY OF CHRONIC ALCOHOL INTAKE AND ANY DRUG ABUSE
  • •7 HISTORY OF TREATMENT FOR ANY PSYCHIATRIC ILLNESS
  • •8 SEVERE HEPATIC OR RENAL DYSFUNCTION
  • •9 PATIENT HAVING COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT PREOPERATIVELY
  • •10 REFUSAL TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY
