All patients above the age of 50 years having Mitral Annulus Calcification (MAC) detected by Echocardiography will be included in the study. The patients of MAC will be compared with age and sex matched patients without MAC for various risk factors like Diabetes Mellitus, Systemic Hypertension, Chronic Kidney Disease, Smoking and Dyslipidemia.
Prevalence of Caseous MAC will be specifically looked for and studied.
A new method of classification of MAC is proposed and the grade of calcification is compared with presence and degree of complications like mitral regurgitation/stenosis and conduction system abnormalities.
Patients with pre-existing Rheumatic Mitral valve disease.
Patients who are not willing to give consent.
Patients outside the age limits.
