Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Patients (m/f/d) with acute ACL primary rupture with indication for surgical reconstruction
  • •Planned ACL replacement surgery with autologous hamstring tendon or quadriceps tendon graft at Sana Dreifaltigkeitskrankenhaus Cologne, Germany
  • •Patients are capable of giving consent, have full legal capacity and understand the nature, scope and significance of participation in the study

Exclusion Criteria

  • •Concomitant injuries with an intrinsic indication for surgery, that lead to a change in the treatment regimen
  • •Surgery or injury to the knee joint in the last 5 years (both on the injured leg and on the contralateral leg)
  • •Comorbidities that are counterindicated to an active exercise program (e.g. severe cardiovascular disease, neurological disease, ...).
  • •Rheumatic underlying diseases
  • •Pregnancy
