Inclusion Criteria
•Children between ages 2 months to 5 years of age
•Admitted to JIPMER pediatrics ward
•With cough or respiratory difficulty with respiratory rate of 50 or more for 2 months to 1 year and 40 or more for 1-5 years children and >30 after that age with either a documented fever or chest in drawing.
•OR a diagnosis of pneumonia based on chest examination by physician
•OR a diagnosis of pneumonia based on chest radiograph
Exclusion Criteria
•Cases of tuberculosis (pulmonary), bronchial asthma
•Treatment with Vit D during last 1 month
•Congenital malformations of lungs
•Known Immunodeficiency, HIV infection
•Cases of urolithiasis or nephrolithiasis or nephrocalcinosis
Cases of chronic liver disease
