Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Age greater than or equal to 65\-years\-old
  • Schedule for elective major abdominal and thoracic surgery
  • Plan to insert a thoracic epidural catheter for perioperative pain control

Exclusion Criteria

  • Refuse to participate in the study
  • Having contraindication of neuraxial anesthesia
  • Having thoracic spine deformity
  • Having previously thoracic spine surgery
  • Allergy to local anesthetic drug
  • Having severe medical conditions
  • Have been a participant in another research
