Inclusion Criteria:<br><br> - A first-ever unilateral stroke confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or<br> computed tomography (CT)<br><br> - Aged 50-80 years<br><br> - 1-5 years post-stroke<br><br> - No cognitive deficits (Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score >22)<br><br> - Able to walk for 10 meters with or without a walking aid<br><br> - No absolute and relative contraindications to graded exercise testing according to<br> the statement from the American Heart Association (AHA)<br><br>Exclusion Criteria:<br><br> - Any other neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson's disease)<br><br> - Any other musculoskeletal conditions that may affect bone metabolism (i.e. endocrine<br> disorders, fractures within 1 year, Paget's disease of bone, Rheumatoid Arthritis<br> (RA), renal disease, bone neoplasms, HIV Infection) or prevent safe participation in<br> exercise (e.g. acute fracture)<br><br> - Current or planned osteoporosis treatment (e.g., bisphosphonates, denosumab) or<br> other treatment that may affect bone metabolism (i.e. corticosteroids, thiazide<br> diuretics)<br><br> - Active engagement in stroke rehabilitation services or a structured exercise<br> programme in addition to the one that will be provided in the proposed study<br><br> - Botulinum toxin injection in the paretic lower limb within the previous or coming 6<br> months
