Adult patients between 18 and 99 years of age with clinical findings suggestive of acute ischaemic stroke, within 24 hours of onset of symptoms and middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) hyperintensity
1) Absolute contraindications to MRI such as patients with cardiac pacemakers or any metallic implants
2) Detection of haemorrhage on MRI
3) Previous history of cerebrovascular accident
4) Existence of artefacts arising from patient noncooperation
5) Patients with history of claustrophobia
