- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method To compare the severity of intraoperative bowel distension with the use of nitrous oxide free and

nitrous oxide based general anaesthesia in neonates undergoing laparotomy using surgical

assessment and abdominal girth measurementTimepoint: Measured preoperatively, post induction and then every thirty minutes.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method To measure vitals like heart, blood pressure and severity of pain and to study corelation between abdominal girth measurement and surgical estimation of

abdominal distension.Timepoint: Vitals were measured at every fifteen minutes and pain was assessed every thirty minutes. Abdominal girth was measured preoperative, after induction and postoperatively.
