Inclusion Criteria
1) men aged 50-75 years old who were scheduled for surgical treatment for BPH
2) underwent a urodynamic study before surgery and agreed to donate bladder tissue
Exclusion Criteria
1) prostate cancer diagnosed previously or after surgery for BPH
2) a history of prostatic, bladder and/or urethral surgery
3) a history of acute urinary tract infection within 1 month
4) interstitial cystitis, and bladder cancer
5) patients who indwelling bladder catheter for more than 1 month
