- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Time to exhaustion in the constant load test was defined as the main outcome measure. The tests were finished when the participants could no longer maintain the speed.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Secondary outcome measures included parameters of maximal performance (maximum running speed and peak oxygen uptake ) as well as parameters most likely related to a potential performance enhancing effect of sodium bicarbonate and muscle fatigue (pH, sodium bicarbonate concentration, base excess and blood lactate).
