- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method
The main study parameter is the difference in reflective functioning and

emotion regulation between mothers with a child born of sexual violence and the

comparison groups.

Reflective functioning is based on the capacity to interpret another person*s

actions n order to make sense of, and anticipate, emotional processes. For

caregivers this equates to being attuned and enabling a child to develop the

ability to see themselves as distinct from other people; with their own

desires, feelings and thoughts. Reflective functioning is pivotal in attachment.

Emotion regulation is based on the idea that the capacity to experience and

respond appropriately to a range of emotions, is central to the ability to

inhibit impulsive actions associated with negative experiences and their

subsequent emotional expression.

- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method
Secondary study parameters include mother*s mental health, quality of

mother-child interaction, stigmatization within different contexts (political,

judicial, ethical, culture, religion), resilience and child functioning.
