Key Insights

  • A cardiometabolic research study at UAB is exploring the impact of exercise and glucose on heart hormones in healthy adults aged 18 and older.

  • The study involves controlled meals, treadmill exercise, glucose tests, and collection of blood, urine, and genetic samples from participants.

  • Participants meeting eligibility criteria, including a BMI under 45 kg/m2 and no history of diabetes, heart, or kidney problems, are being recruited.

Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) are conducting a cardiometabolic research study to investigate the effects of exercise and glucose on heart hormones in healthy adults. The study aims to provide insights into the interplay between metabolic factors and cardiovascular health, potentially informing future preventive strategies.

Study Design and Participation

The study seeks healthy adults over the age of 18 with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 45 kg/m2. Exclusion criteria include a history of diabetes, heart problems, or kidney problems. Participants will be required to consume prepared meals, perform exercise on a treadmill, and undergo a glucose test. Researchers will also collect blood and urine samples, as well as genetic information.

Compensation and Contact Information

Participants who complete all study visits will be compensated $300. Meals will be provided at no cost. Interested individuals can contact the research team via email at genesis@uabmc.edu or by calling (205) 975-3956.
