Inclusion Criteria

Adult Critically ill patients aged 18-70 years admitted in ICU with sepsis or septic shock

Exclusion Criteria

1. Patient/relative refusal to consent for study

2. History of sepsis or ICU stay within last 6 months

3. Known case of chronic anemia requiring repeated blood transfusion

4. Previous history of blood transfusion 2 weeks before current admission
