ASA grade I& II patients
All patients posted for elective day care surgery
Patients refusal to give consent
Patients with known or predicted difficult airway, Mallampatti grade >III, mouth opening < 2.5cms.
Patients with significant acute or chronic lung disease, pathology of the neck or upper respiratory ract.
ASA grade III and IV patients
Duration of surgery >1 hour
Patients with increased risk of aspiration[hiatus hernia,gastro- esophageal reflux disease, full stomach, obese patients[ BMI >30Kg/m2],pregnant patients.
