1 Age > 18 years
2 Received first dose of antibiotics in last 24 hours .
3 Patients not received any antibiotics.
1. Patientâ??s / guardians not giving consent
2. If planned for prolonged antibiotic therapy ( >3 weeks)
3. Expected ICU Length of stay < 24 h
4. Suspected viral, parasites and tuberculosis infection
5. Severely immune-compromised patients like HIV (CD4 count < 200
cells/mm)
6. Neutropenic patients ( < 500 neutrophils/ml)
7. Solid organ transplant, Bone marrow transplant
8. Patients on steroid therapy or started on steroid therapy during the study
9. Patients with concomitant haematological diseases (haematological malignancies,
autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura, reactive thrombocytosis, and
hypersplenism etc.)
10. Patients received platelets or whole blood transfusion in previous 24 h
11. Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
