All elective patients above 18 years of age who are undergoing elective midline laparotomy
1. Patients undergoing other than elective midline laparotomy
2. Patients who has known hypersensitivity or allergy to one of the irrigation solutions.
4. Pregnant or breast-feeding women
5. Patients with severe immunosuppression
6. Presence of concurrent abdominal wall infection
7. Preoperative systemic antibiotic therapy within 5 days prior to surgery
8. Previous abdominal surgery within the last 30 days or planned re-laparotomy within the next 30 days
9. Patients who are not giving consent
10. Surgery of the abdominal wall (hernia mesh repair)
11. Participating in another clinical trial that interferes with the primary or secondary outcomes of this trial.
