Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • All elective patients above 18 years of age who are undergoing elective midline laparotomy

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Patients undergoing other than elective midline laparotomy
  • 2\. Patients who has known hypersensitivity or allergy to one of the irrigation solutions.
  • 4\. Pregnant or breast\-feeding women
  • 5\. Patients with severe immunosuppression
  • 6\. Presence of concurrent abdominal wall infection
  • 7\. Preoperative systemic antibiotic therapy within 5 days prior to surgery
  • 8\. Previous abdominal surgery within the last 30 days or planned re\-laparotomy within the next 30 days
  • 9\. Patients who are not giving consent
  • 10\. Surgery of the abdominal wall (hernia mesh repair)
  • 11\. Participating in another clinical trial that interferes with the primary or secondary outcomes of this trial.
