Patients undergoing major head and neck surgeries (intraoperative time >4hrs ) including oncological, pathological, orthognathic, reconstructive, panfacial fracture cases.
Patients with
(i) hypersensitivity to dexamethasone
(ii) active infections, such as tuberculosis, viral diseases, and mycoses
(iii) patients with thrombosis
(iv) uncontrolled diabetes requiring regular insulin
(v) mental disorders such as poorly controlled depression
(vi) active gastrointestinal ulcer
(vii) uncontrolled glaucoma
(viii) continuous use of oral steroids in the preop period (autoimmune disease)
(Ix) minor oral surgery procedures
