1)Age between 18-65 years old
2)Body mass index (BMI) between 18-29.9 kg/m2
3)Chronic neck or upper back pain on one or both sides with pain intensity measured by VAS > 4 lasting at least 3 months
4)Present of trigger points palpable in the upper trapezius muscle at least 1 site
1)Used any other therapies for neck or shoulder pain within the last 2 weeks as follow; physiotherapy, massage, herbal compression, stream bath, sauna, acupuncture, yoga, chiropractic, and stretching or straitening exercises
2)Extra strenuous work with serious using neck, shoulder, upper extremities, or upper back muscles such as lifting heavy things during this study
3)Used of any kind of medications or supplementary medicines within last 1 week
4)Presence of the following conditions
a.Musculoskeletal disorders
b.Cardiovascular or respiratory diseases
c.Systemic inflammatory diseases such as SLE and rheumatoid
d.Infectious diseases, skin diseases, malignancies, tumors
e.Liver and renal diseases
f.Bleeding or blood disorders
g.Hormonal diseases such as hyper- or hypo-thyroidism, and Cushing syndrome
h.Neurological diseases or psychological problems
5)Blood transfusion within the last 3 months
6)Hypertension (>140/90 mmHg), diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia
7)Fever with temperature over 38.50C
8)Pregnancy or lactation
9)Smoking, alcoholism, or drug abuse
10)Regular exercise at least 30 minutes session, 3 times per week
11)Vegetarian or vegan
