1. Healthy mothers with term, uncomplicated, singleton pregnancy undergoing elective caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia
2. Patients who develop hypotension after spinal anaesthesia
1. History suggestive of maternal complications e.g- pre-eclampsia, cardiovascular disease or cerebrovascular disease
2. Patients with absolute or relative contra-indications for spinal anaesthesia e.g. infection in lumbar area, coagulation abnormalities, history of autonomic neuropathy, spinal deformities, other neurological diseases, hypovolemia due to any cause
3. Patients on monoamine oxidase inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants
4. History suggestive of mesenteric or peripheral vascular thrombosis
