1)First episode of major unprovoked VTE
2)VTE objectively proven
3)VTE treated for 5-7 months with anticoagulant therapy authorized for the REVERSE II study (initial or ongoing therapy)
4)Absence of recurrent VTE during the treatment period
1)Less than 18 years of age
2)Patients who have already discontinued anticoagulant therapy
3)Patients requiring ongoing anticoagulation for reasons other than VTE
4)Being treated for a recurrent unprovoked VTE
5)Patients with high risk thrombophilia
6)patients who plan on using exogenous estrogen(OCP,HRT)if anticoagulant therapy is discontinued
7)Patients with pregnancy associated VTE
8)Geographically inaccessible for follow-up
9)Patients unable or unwilling to provide informed consent
